Reconnecting La Remonta with its context: La Remonta square is linked with the Tetuán district through its main streets, but it is merely a physical connection… the goal is relink the square socially and ecologically with the local context. The square is integrated withIN the network of green corridors, sharing the same species and ecosystems. The proposed unified pavement of the square and the surroundings is anchored in the context through the use of a traditional and local pattern.
Reactivating a social infrastructure: the current Plaza de La Remonta, with a dimension of 110x110m, is as big as the Plaza Mayor of Madrid (main urban public space). The new proposed square 60x60m size fits properly with the scale of the main space of Tetuán district. The square is reprogramed with a varied catalogue of intergenerational uses and amenities organized into a 60x60m ring that contains also all the green areas and plantations. The new 60x60m ring creates a central and free space, clean of obstacles, ready to host all kind of events, social gatherings, concerts… A new social infrastructure for the district.
